Our theme for Day 1 was MAKE — and we dug into what you need to think about before you ever arrive at a craft show with a table full of products.
We talked about things like:
🧶 Choosing what products to make for a show
💰 Looking beyond the price of a ball of yarn to understand what a product actually costs you to make
📊 Thinking about your product mix rather than simply making lots of different things
🎯 Creating products for the customer you're actually trying to attract
🛍️ Why more products don't necessarily mean more sales
💡 Thinking strategically about colours, yarn choices, sizes and variations
⏱️ Considering the time it takes to make something, not just material cost
📦 Planning how much inventory you really need
💵 Beginning to think about whether a product makes sense financially for a craft show
And throughout the training, we're looking at craft shows as more than simply:
“What can I make and put on a table?”
We're learning how to approach them like a business. 🎪💰
